John DeFeo is an experienced trial lawyer with over 25 years experience in the practice of law. During his career, he has tried a wide variety of business and personal injury lawsuits. A great deal of his trial experience came as a result of his being chosen as National Trial Counsel for a national insurance carrier. As National Trial Counsel, he was admitted in dozens of state and federal courts outside Texas to try cases with significant exposure. During the first part of his career, he primarily worked defending lawsuits for businesses and insurance companies. As a result of his significant trial experience, excellent rapport with judges and juries, and exceptional trial results, he was invited to join a highly successful plaintiff’s firm in Dallas, Texas. After several years spent trying and settling tens of millions of dollars in medical, malpractice, and personal injury cases, his firm successfully settled hundreds of millions of dollars in claims for clients of international law firms, investment banks/financial institutions, and accounting firms in internationally publicized cases involving fraudulent tax shelters. Mr. DeFeo founded John DeFeo & Associates, PLLC in 2006 before being asked to help lead this firm’s litigation group.
John lives in Dallas with his wife of over 25 years; and they have four boys, Matthew, Michael, Craig, and Braden. The DeFeos enjoy spending time at their second home in Crested Butte, Colorado where they enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking and simply being a family. John plays piano and guitar and gets together with friends to play whenever possible.
